Founders’ Legacy Awards

Description

The Founders’ Legacy Awards annually recognize and give appreciation to up to four ASES members and/or ASES Front Office Staff for their efforts in the areas of Leadership, Service, Impact & Opportunity, or Mentorship. In conjunction with the ASES Foundation’s Founders’ Legacy Fund, these awards are made in honor of ASES Founders to recognize and share their accomplishments.

The 2025 awards will be made in honor of the following Founders:

Leadership – in honor of Founder Melvin Post, MD

Service – in honor of Founder Frank W. Jobe, MD

Impact & Opportunity – in honor of Founder Tom R. Norris, MD

Mentorship – in honor of Founder Frederick A. Matsen, III, MD

Qualification:

  • All member types and/or staff may be nominated by an ASES member.
  • Nominators may propose only one candidate per year.

Submission:

  • All nomination letters must be submitted electronically to the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) Foundation at info@asesfdn.org. Please use “Founders Legacy Award Nomination” and the nominee’s name in the subject line.
  • Include a 1-page personal statement outlining the reasons your nominee should be selected for this award and their personal achievements. Indicate the area in which the candidate is nominated (Leadership, Service, Diversity, or Mentorship). One sponsor letter of recommendation emailed to the above address. Nominators may provide a list of additional co-sponsors.
  • A CV of the proposed awardee must be submitted as well as any other additional applicable information.

Selection:

  • The ASES Nominating Committee will review the nomination submissions and select winners.

Award:

  • Awards will be presented during the awards ceremony at the ASES 2025 Annual Meeting giving public recognition.

The deadline for nominations is July 31st, 2025.
