Event Description: Our evening in Salt Lake City highlights the active patient population we so commonly see in our region. Jim Olson, President of the Utah Jazz, will share his experiences from his 30 years with the Utah Jazz in helping athletes through injuries and share his own experience about the recovery process. Drs. Tashjian, Chalmers and Chamberlain will present research about some of the most impactful new innovations in delivering shoulder and elbow care. We will also hear resident and fellow surgeons present some of thelatest cutting-edge research in Shoulder and Elbow surgery. Finally, our industry supporters will have the opportunity to show their portfolios of products to our attendees and those that attend will be able to behands-on with these innovative products.

Speakers’ Name: Jim Olson – President, Utah Jazz and Vivint Arena
Topic: My 30 years with the Utah Jazz – managing athletes and myself through Shoulder injuries.
Olson joined the Utah Jazz in 1994 and has held multiple positions within the organization, including vice president of ticket sales (2003-06), senior vice president of sales and marketing (2006-2013), chief operating officer of LHMSE (2013-15), and interim president of LHMSE. Additionally, Olson has had key management responsibilities for the Salt Lake Bees, The Zone Sports Network and the Tour of Utah.
A native of Salt Lake City, Olson graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in communications. He attended Northeastern University in Boston where he received a master’s degree in sports and recreation management.
Olson has served on the Alumni Association Board of Directors and Crimson Club Board for the University of Utah, the Downtown Alliance, Visit Salt Lake, Salt Lake Chamber Board of Governors, and Camp Kostopulos board. He and his wife, Suzi, have four children and reside in Salt Lake City.

Speakers’ Name: Robert Tashjian, MD
Topic: The Impact of Research on Building a Successful Shoulder Surgery Program
Dr. Robert Tashjian is a Professor of Orthopaedics at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City, UT specializing in shoulder and elbow surgery. Dr. Tashjian received his medical doctorate from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA. He completed an orthopaedic residency at Brown Medical School in Providence, RI followed by an orthopaedic trauma fellowship at Brown. Dr. Tashjian completed an additional fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at Washington University in St. Louis.
Dr. Tashjian is an Active Member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons. Dr. Tashjian is the editor of the textbooks The Unstable Elbow and Complex and Revision Shoulder Arthroplasty. Dr. Tashjian is currently the Vice-Chairman for Research in the Department of Orthopaedics as well as the co-director of the annual internationally recognized Advanced Shoulder Arthroplasty Meeting in Park City, Utah.
ASES NSEW Site Director: Aaron Chamberlain, MD, MSc, MBA
Dr. Aaron Chamberlain is the Senior Medical Director of the Musculoskeletal Clinical Program at Intermountain Health. His clinical practice focuses on the surgical management of conditions of Shoulder and Elbow conditions. Dr. Chamberlain graduated from the University of Utah with a Music degree in Violin Performance. He received his Medical Degree from University of California – San Francisco and completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. He then completed his fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at Washington University in Saint Louis.
Dr. Chamberlain also completed a Masters degree in Clinical Investigation as well as an MBA from Washington University in St Louis. He serves on numerous committees for American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) as well as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). In addition to his clinical practice, he works to establish and implement clinical best practices and innovative care delivery models.
