The ONS Shoulder & Elbow Surgery Fellowship is a prestigious 1-year surgical program hosted by Orthopaedic & Neurosurgery Specialists (ONS) in Greenwich, Connecticut. Designed for fully-trained international orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine physicians, this immersive program offers unparalleled exposure to complex shoulder, elbow, and sports medicine care in one of the most advanced private orthopedic practices in the U.S.
Fellows observe and participate in a high-volume surgical environment, engage in cutting-edge research, and receive mentorship from nationally recognized leaders in the field.
???? Fellowship Highlights
- Clinical Care (1 days/week): Follow elite sports medicine and shoulder/elbow attendings through patient evaluations, imaging, conservative management, surgical planning, and post-op care.
- Surgical Experience (4 days/week): Fellows can expect to observe and participate in over 500 surgical procedures, including:
- Arthroscopic rotator cuff, labrum, instability, and biceps procedures
- Total and reverse shoulder replacements
- Elbow ligament reconstructions and tendon repairs
- Sports Medicine Involvement: Fellows will actively participate in the medical care of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL), gaining hands-on experience with elite athlete management, injury evaluation, and return-to-play decisions.
- Cadaveric Bioskills Lab: Regular access to a fully equipped onsite bioskills cadaveric lab allows fellows to review surgical anatomy, refine techniques, and participate in hands-on workshops.
- Academic Activities: Weekly conferences, case presentations, journal clubs, surgical planning meetings, and faculty-led didactic lectures.
- Research Requirement: Fellows are required to complete at least one original, publishable research project under the mentorship of ONS faculty, with the goal of submission to a peer-reviewed journal.
- Certificate of Completion is awarded upon fulfillment of clinical, surgical, academic, and research components.
