Eligibility:
- Must have completed a fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, Hand Surgery, Trauma and/or Sports Medicine.
- Must be Board certified with ABOS/AOBOS/FRCSC
- Must have a current practice with a minimum of 1/3 of cases related to shoulder/elbow and must demonstrate a commitment to the advancement of shoulder and elbow surgery as described in the personal statement of the applicant
- Must be 3-years since fellowship (i.e., finish fellowship July 2012; apply for ASES membership in 2015)
- Those applying directly to Associate must have be at least 5 years out of fellowship
- Minimum 30 points on shoulder/elbow CV
- Must have completed at least 4 JSES Family of Journal reviews over the past 4 years or serve as JSES Associate Editor

Application Process
Applicants may apply for Associate Membership any time as a Candidate member (must also be 3 years out of fellowship). Non-members can also apply directly to Associate Status.

Membership Expectations
- Associate members should attend 50% (or more) of eligible ASES Annual Meetings and ASES-organized courses over the past 3 years or 50% of Annual Meetings over the past 4 years
- Associate members must be a reviewer for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.
